Plaquemines Parish Offers 2 Community CARE Centers

By:  Anne Templet

Plaquemines Parish is home to two new Community CARE Centers in Belle Chasse and Port Sulphur and a third center is being planned for Phoenix.

The Community CARE Centers will help residents of Plaquemines Parish by providing counseling, assessment, advocacy, resources and education.  They will serve the following population,  but are not limited to children/adolescents and their families, elderly, anyone with a disability, and anyone affected by domestic violence.

Collaborating agencies include Office of Community Services, Families in Need of Services, Louisiana Youth Enhancement Services, Office of Mental Health, New Orlean’s Adolescent Hospital, Sheriffs Office Domestic Violence/Child Abuse Detectives and Victim Advocates.

The resource centers themselves provide information concerning positive educational, social, and emotional development for children.  They will also identify needed services and keep information on-hand for residents.

The Centers are located in Belle Chasse at 8459 Highway 23 (Belle Chasse Highway) and in Port Sulphur at 26858 Highway 23 (in Plaquemines Parish Medical Center).
