Provides training and collaboration for families and educators to work together on trainings and teams. Focuses on school age issues, especially transition to adult life style. Facilitators receive training from the State Department of Education on Continuous Improvement Monitoring Process, enabling them to represent parents in the monitoring process.Louisiana State Improvement Grant (LaSIG)
Provides facilitators in LaSIG school districts to work with identified schools in increasing parental involvement. Stipends are available to individuals and families to attend regional, state, and national conferences relative to disability issues.While each of the above projects are specifically funded by various grants and contracts - core funding for Families Helping Families of Greater New Orleans is provided by Louisiana’s Developmental Disabilities Council.
